Brett Rudy scored a hat trick as the Wellsboro Middle School soccer team beat Sayre 5-1 on Thursday, October 16.
Rudy scored his first goal off an assist from Cameron Tennis to put the Hornets up 1-0. Sayre would rally to ties the game at 1-1 after connecting on a corner kick. Wellsboro would go up 2-1 after Alan Hazelton scored before halftime.
The Hornets turned up the pressure in the second half with three goals. Rudy would score twice more, one on an assist from Emma Poirier and the other on an assist from Julia Smith. Poirier also scored a goal from an assist from Smith.
With the win, the team improves to 7-4-1 and will be back in action on Saturday, October 18 as they travel to Williamson for a tournament.
