The Wellsboro Middle School boys basketball team picked up wins on Friday night and Saturday morning to extend their win streak to six games.
On Friday, March 21 the Hornets defeated North Penn 45-17 and turned around Saturday morning to defeat Mansfield, 49-24.
The Hornets held an 11-6 lead after the first quarter on Saturday morning before Mansfield cut into the lead to go down 19-16 at the half, but the Hornet defense intensified as they only allowed eight second half points on their way to the win.
"Mansfield did a good job handling our pressure in the first half," said head coach Ed Hamm. "I was happy to see the boys stay petient on offense. They played team basketball today."
Dalton Prough led the team with 15 points on the day while Collin Pietropola pitched in 11. Rounding out the scoring were Quinn Henry with 8, Cole Cavanaugh with 7, and Nic Ingerick and Alex Kozuhowski added 4 points each.
The Middle School B team also picked up two wins, as they beat North Penn 30-11 and Mansfield 25-12.
With the wins the Hornets improve to 12-3. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 25 as they travel to Williamson.
