The Wellsboro Varsity softball team suffered their third loss and second in as many days as they were shut out 6-0 by Townada on Friday, May 2.
The Lady Hornets struggled at the plate on a cold and windy afternoon as they struck out nine times and recorded only four hits. Senior Maggie Smith and Junior Peyton Wilson each went 1-for-3 with a double and Senior Brooke Kohler and Sophomore Sarah Ingerick each singled on the night.
Sophomore Alexa Singer started on the mound and worked four innings to earn the loss. She struck out one while allowing five hits and two earned runs. Kohler came on in relief to finish the game.
With the loss the Lady Hornets fall to 10-3 (3-3 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, May 5 as they travel to Athens.
