The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to South Williamsport in the first round of District IV playoffs on Wednesday, October 22.
South's Laura Rook scored the first of her three goals on the night in the 6th minute to put the Lady Mounties up 1-0 early. Wellsboro did not get on the scoreboard until the second half as Junior Sarah Ingerick scored in the 44th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
South retook the lead eight minutes later when Rook scored again and they put the game away in the 74th minute when Rook capped her hat trick.
South Williamsport out shot Wellsboro 12-7 and hada 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Kailee Clymer recorded 9 saves in goal for the Hornets.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets end the 2014 season with a record of 11-6-1 (11-4-1 NTL).
