The Wellsboro Varsity softball team only need 5 innings to defeat Williamson 14-0 on Monday, April 28.
The Lady Hornets scored two runs in the second inning, four in the third, one in the fourth, and opened the flood gates with seven runs in the fifth to pick up the shut out victory.
Sophomore Alexa Singer and Senior Brooke Kohler combined on a two-hitter on the mound. Singer allowed two hits and struck out three, walking three, in three innings and Kohler struck out two in two perfect innings. Singer is credited with the win, her ninth of the year.
Junior Peyton Wilson was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a triple, and scored three runs while Junior Jordan Butters had two hits and two RBIs.
Singer had a triple and four RBIs and Sophomore Sarah Ingerick, Senior Maggie Smith, Junior Paige Carr, and Junior Baylea Lehman each had a hit. Lehman had two RBIs and Carr had an RBI.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets fell 5-0.
The win improves the Lady Hornets to 10-1 (3-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action today as they travel to Coudersport.
