The Wellsboro JV Volleyball team won the Troy Tournament for the third year in a row on Saturday, October 11.
The Lady Hornets won Pool B with a 7-1 record. In game won they beat Athens 2-0 (25-12, 25-12), then beat Northeast Bradford 2-0 (25-18, 25-15), split 1-1 with Towanda (18-25, 25-17), and beat Liberty 2-0 (25-9, 25-23) to claim the first seed out of pool play.
Wellsboro then took on host Troy and beat them 2-0 (25-14, 25-19) and then defeated Towanda to win it all, 2-0 (25-12, 25-22).
Sophomore Olivia Kurtz led the Lady Hornets with 24 points, 4 aces, and 21 assists, Freshman Brianne Keane had 23 points, 8 aces, and 12 assists, and Freshman Sydney Tremper had 22 points and 7 aces. Sophomore Kaeli Butters had 24 kills, Freshman Jillian Graver had 23 kills, and Freshman Lizzie Poirier had 12 kills.
