The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team dropped their first regular season match of 2014 as they lost to Wyalusing, 3-2, on Tuesday, September 2.
The Lady Hornets took the first game 25-14 before dropping game two 20-25 and game three 17-25. Wellsboro would fight back to win the fourth game 25-14 to force the fifth game. In that game, Wyalusing jumped out to an early lead before Wellsboro battled back, but came up just short as they lost the game 15-12 and the match.
Junior Darci Warriner led the team with 11 kills and 11 points, Junior Haley Zuchowski and Senior Jordan Butters each had 12 points, and Senior Peyton Wilson recorded 19 assists and 20 digs. Junior Hannah Wagaman had 37 digs, Sophomore Kirsten Florio had 9 kills, and Sophomore Morgan Florio had 7 kills and 10 assists.
In the JV game, the team 25-2 and 25-20 to start 1-0 on the year.
With the loss, the Varsity team falls to 0-1 (0-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 9 as they travel to Sayre.
