Sophomore Dawson Prough went 3-for-3 at the plate with a three-run home run, a double, two runs scored, and five RBIs to lead Wellsboro past Northeast Bradford, 11-4 on Tuesday, April 22.
Senior Dylan Prough also had a great night hitting the ball as he was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a double. Sophomore Nick Tremper and Senior Brian Doty each doubled and drove in two runs.
Sophomore Joe Allen struck out three and walked none, while allowing two hits in three scoreless innings to get the win. Sophomore Sam Moss struck out one, walked five, and allowed four hits and four runs in two innings. Senior Brandon Owlett pitched two perfect innings, striking out all six batters he faced.
"Tonight's game was about the offense," said head coach Philip Prough. "That's something we haven't been able to say in recent games. We hit the ball hard tonight and were loose at the plate. What I liked the most was the fact that there were no cheap hits. All of them were hit well. That's a good sign for us.
"Dawson continues to be hot. It's fun to watch a kid hit when they're in their zone. The 3-run homer was one of the longest hit balls we've had at our park. I know he's in the zone when he's pulling the ball like that," concluded Prough.
With the win the Hornets improve to 4-4 (1-1 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 23 as they host Wyalusing.
