Junior Jordan Butters drove in the winning run in the sixth inning to defeat the Sayre Redskins, 1-0 on Wednesday, April 2.
Sophomore Alexa Singer doubled on her only hit of the night to get into scoring position before Butters drove in the game's only run for the victory.
The Lady Hornets only had four hits on the night by Singer, Butters, Sophomore Sarah Ingerick, and Junior Peyton Wilson. Senior Brooke Kohler walked twice and Ingerick reached on error twice.
Singer started on the mound and went the distance, giving up only two hits and striking out 11.
With the win, the Lady Hornets start the season at 1-0. The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 5 as they participate in the Northeast Bradford tournament.
