The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team suffered their first loss of the 2014 season as they lost 2-1 to Williamson on Monday, September 15.
The Hornets struck first as Sophomore Josiah Hill scored in the 29th minute of the first half off a Jake Mitchell assist. Williamson's Jon Daly scored back-to-back goals halfway through the second half to give Williamson the win.
Wellsboro out shot Williamson 12-8 while both teams had three corners each. Senior Jake Mitchell recorded 6 saves in goal on the night.
"It was a very physical game tonight. I thought we controlled much of the first half," said head coach John Shaffer. "In the second we went down a man and gave up 2 goals in less then a minute. There was a bit of chaos in the back.
"All credit to Williamson, they took advantage of the opportunities presented to them," continued Shaffer. "It should be an interesting game when we go visit them."
The JV game ended in a 2-2 tie. Junior Jeshawn Paris and Freshman Nic Ingerick scored goals in the game.
With the loss the Hornets fall to 5-1 (5-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 17 as they host Northeast Bradford.
