For the second year in a row, the Wellsboro golf team are NTL champs.
"I'm very happy with how this year has turned out," said head coach Corey Lewis. "We had a lot to live up to with last year's undefeated team."
The Hornets shot a 334 team score, with Senior Zach Bower having the round of his life. Bower shot a 74 to earn medalist honors and his first career hole-in-one on the par-3, 160-yard 13th hole.
"That was pretty cool," Bower said. "I was shouting pretty loud. I was hooting and hollering."
Bower became just the second NTL golfer to ever get a hole-in-one in a league match. The other was Ben Howe in 2002 at Towanda Country Club.
Senior Dillan King shot 82, Junior Brett Kendrick came home with an 83, Senior Blair Carson shot 95, Sophomore Ryan Reese shot 110, and Sophomore Tyler Kennedy finished at 111 on the day.
The Hornets beat out Towanda (342), Athens (345), Mansfield (362), Northeast Bradford (378), Sayre (409), and Northern Tioga (410) to finish 41-2-1 (41-1 NTL) on the year.
With the reagular season finished, the Hornets turn their attention to Eagles Mere for District IV play today.
