Smith, Ingerick homer as softball team tops Canton

Junior Maggie Smith hit a two-run home run and Freshman Sarah Ingerick added one as Wellsboro beat Canton, 8-2 Monday night on the road.
Smith went 3-4 on the day with two runs scored and 2 RBI's that came on her 5th home run of the season. Sophomore Jordan Butters went 3-4 with a double, Junior Brooke Kohler (2-5) and Sophomore Paige Carr (2-4) also had multiple hits in the game. Kohler and Carr both scored twice as Carr added an RBI.
Sophomore Peyton Wilson added a hit with an RBI and Sophomore Baylea Lehman knocked in a run as well.
Kohler earned the win striking out 16 while allowing five hits and one walk on 106 pitches.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 11-5 (7-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Troy.
