The Middle School soccer team opened the 2013 season with a 3-2 loss to Galeton on Wednesday afternoon.

Wellsboro set the tempo early and went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. The Hornets maintained control of the ball through most of the game. Unfortunately, Galeton made the most of their opportunities scoring three times in the second half.

"I pleased with how everyone passed the ball and played team soccer," said head coach Ed Hamm.

The Hornets finished the game with 12 shots on goal, while 7th grader Emma Poirier scored twice off assists from Devin Webster, and Gabe Leach.

Kailee Clymer recorded 10 saves in goal.

With the loss, the Hornets start the season 0-1. The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 5 as they travel to Athens.
