The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketball team competed at the Towanda Tournament over the weekend and picked up one win.
The Lady Hornets opened up the tournament with a 25-21 win over Canton, but lost 13-11 to Northeast Bradford and 20-11 to Towanda to end their day.
"Our girls played great defense, especially against a very good Northeast Bradford team, holding them to only 13 points," said head coach Darrell Morris. "I was very happy with our effort and hustle in the games. If we can get some shooting and score more, we have a chance to be a pretty good team."
7th grader Rachael Tuttle recorded 10 points, 12 Rebounds, 8 Steals during the tournament to lead the Lady Hornets. 8th graders Kaeli Butters had 9 points, 13 Rebounds, 8th grader scored Jessica Grab 8 points, and 8th grader Autum Kitajima added 7 steals.
After the tournament, the Middle School Lady Hornets are now 1-3 on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, February 28 as they travel to Mansfield.
