The Wellsboro Varsity girls basketball team dropped their opening round game of the Wellsboro Hornets Sports Booster Club Holiday Tournament to Williamsport, 74-57.
The Lady Hornets found themselves trailing 10-5 after the first quarter, but outscored Williamsport 25-17 in the second to take a 30-27 lead going into the half.
Things looked promising at the start of the second half for the Lady Hornets, but turnovers and Williamsport's outside shooting doomed the team as they squandered 47 second half points en route to a loss.
Sophomore Sarah Ingerick led the Lad Hornets with 16 points. Sophomore Alexa Singer had 13. Junior Peyton Wilson, Sophomore Jada Jackson, and Junior Jordan Butters all had 6 points.
Jackson led the team with 16 rebounds and 4 steals, and Ingerick had 6 assists.
The team will take on NTL rival Troy this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
