JV baseball drops double header to Towanda

The Wellsboro JV baseball team dropped a double header to Towanda Saturday afternoon.

In the first game, the Knights capitalized on walks and a couple of hits in the first inning to score three runs. In the second inning, four Wellsboro errors led to seven Towanda runs. Freshman James Mundy pitched the first two innings of the game, walking five, giving up four hits and ten runs, one earned. Sophomore Dylan Plume came on for relief and pitched two scoreless innings, striking out one and hitting one batter.

Offensively, Freshman Joe Allen scored the lone run for the Hornets.

In the second game of the double header, the Hornets fell by the score of 8-4. Freshman Anthony Cooper took the mound for four innings. He ended with a line of one strikeout, two walks, eights hits, nine runs, eight earned. Cooper, Sophomore Rusty Krystoff, and Sophomore Nick Levindoski had hits in the game. Runs were scored by Cooper, Levindoski, Allen, and Mundy.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 0-5-2. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 23 as they travel to Troy.
