The Wellsboro Varsity wrestling team competed at the Selinsgrove wrestling tournament on Saturday.
Sophomore Tyler Evans went 1-3 on the day at 126 lbs. at picked up a pin over Salisbury Township's Antonio Alvarado in 2:53.
Senior Nate Ingerick went 4-1 on the day at 132 lbs. Nate won matches over Selinsgrove's Austin Reinard, Shamokin's Brett Long, Salisbury Township's Nicolas Scarcia, and Williamsport's Jarrett Jones, all by pin. His only loss of the day came against Montoursville's Keith Batkowski.
Freshman Samantha Spurgeon went 0-5 at 138 lbs., losing all matches by pin. Junior Jack Chambers went 1-3 at 145 lbs., picking up his win over Williamsport's Dustin Heiser by pin in 6:31.
Senior Brandon Owlett went 4-1 at 152 lbs. Owlett picked up wins over Williamsport's Drew Lutz, Selinsgrove's Anthony Showers, Salisbury Township's Trent Stump, and Shamokin's Joshiah Miller.
Freshman Aaron Buckwalter went 0-5 on the day at 170 lbs., losing all matches by pin. Freshman Dominic Spencer went 2-3 at 182 lbs., picking up wins over Shamokin's Brayson Pauelczyk and Selinsgrove's Aaron Boob.
Freshman Kaleb Smith went 2-3 on the day at 220 lbs., picking up wins over and Sophomore Owen Covert went 1-4 at 285 lbs. Covert picked up his lone win over Williamsport's Kevin Thomas by pin in 5:42.
The team will be back in action on Friday, January 3 as they host Lewisburg.
