The Wellsboro wrestling team dropped a non-league match to Lewisburg Friday night by the final of 60-15.
The Hornets only won three individual matches on the night. Junior Nate Ingerick earned a forfeit at 126 lbs., Junior Brandon Owlett picked up a 8-1 decision over Steven Gingher, and Senior Chad Daugherty pinned John Ward in 41 seconds at 195 lbs.
Owlett recorded his team-leading 10th win of the season, while Daugherty picked up his 9th and Ingerick's win was his 8th.
The Hornets have now dropped all four dual matches so far this season, but Daugherty likes the way the team is working.
"We've been low on numbers the last few years, but Coach Mihalik and Coach Ingerick keep pushing us hard each day in practice to get better on our feet."
Daugherty is also approaching a milestone in reaching 100 career wins.
"I'm getting closer to the mark," commented Daugherty. "Right now it's about taking it one match at a time and staying focused on my opponent."
The Hornets are now 0-4 (0-2 NTL Large School Division) on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 10 as they host Towanda.
