The Wellsboro Varsity boys basketball team picked up their second straight victory as they defeated Cowanesque 67-43 Thursday night on the road.
The Hornets held a slim 29-25 point lead at halftime, then exploded for 38 second half points, including 24 fourth quarter points to bring home the victory.
Junior Kieron Smethers led four Hornets in double figures in scoring with 20 points. Senior Dylan Prough scored 14, Senior Joey Doganiero added 12, and Sophomore Dawson Prough pitched in 10 points.
Junior Michael Pietropola scored seven, Junior Nick Marple had two, while Senior Kyler Widows and Freshman Brandon Lamphier had one point each.
In the J.V. game, the Hornets won 23-14 to improve to 2-2. Freshman Jacob Singer led the team with 13 points and Sophomore Nick Tremper added 4.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 3-1. The team will be back in action Monday, December 23 as they host South Williamsport.
