The Wellsboro boys basketball team continued their dominance over the NTL West as they defeated Williamson 69-40 Friday night in Wellsboro.
The Hornets quickly jumped out to a 25-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Despite not playing a game in a week, the Hornet shooters were in their groove with four of them in double figures on the night.
Senior Jordan Jackson led the team with 18 points, Junior Joey Doganiero added 17, Sophomore Michael Pietropola contributed 11 points, and Sophomore Kieron Smethers pitched in 10.
Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets were Junior Dylan Prough with 8, Senior Andrew McCart with 4, and Sophomore Nick Marple added one point.
Senior Matt Reese had eight assists, seven boards, and six steals on the night and Smethers had seven rebounds and four steals.
In the JV game, the Hornets won 38-29 to pick up their ninth win of the season. Sophomore Brett Kendrick led the team with 12 points and Nick Marple pitched in 9.
With the win, the Hornets improve their 2012-13 record to 14-1 (5-0 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, January 23 as they travel to Wyalusing.
