The Wellsboro boys track team picked up their 5th win of the season by defeating Canton and Sayre Tuesday night. The Hornets scored 72 points, Canton was 2nd at 64, Sayre finished 3rd with 53 points.
Wellsboro's 4x800m relay won in 9:37.5 to start off the meet, Junior Blair Carson finished second in the 110m hurdles at 17.8 and Sophomore Jack Chambers in third at 18.1. Chambers would go on to win the 300 hurdles in 45.5. In the 100m run, Junior Dan Brooks won the event with a time of 11.4.
Junior Blake Gamble (36' 8.5") and Sophomore Jonas Benner (36' 4") were 2nd and 3rd in the shot put, respectively. Senior Jordan Jackson won the 1600m run (4:37.8) and the 400m (51.5) with Junior Joey Doganiero finishing 2nd in 53.3.
Senior Bobby Hill took home the top spot in the 800m run (1:59.6) with Doganiero in 3rd (2:06.9). Hill would also win the 3200m run in 10:16.2.
The 4x400m realy team finished 1st in a time of 3:34.4, and Sophomore Nick Marple was 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 139' 4.5".
With the wins, the Hornets are now 5-3 (4-3 NTL). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, May 7 as they travel to Wyalusing.
