The Wellsboro boys track team finished in 3rd place with 99.5 points in the NTL Meet on Saturday at Athens. The Hornets were in first place half way through the day, but fell to Athens and Towanda who more more depth in the field.
Junior Dan Brooks took home the top spot in the 100m run with a time of 11.22 and was 7th in the 200m run (23.9). Senior Jordan Jackson was 2nd in the 400m run (51.26) and won the 800m run (1:59.47). Senior Bobby Hill was 2nd in the 800m behind Jackson (2:00.92) and won the 1600m run with a time of 4:25.12.
In the 110m hurdles, Junior Blair Carson was 8th at 18.22, and Sophomore Jack Chambers was 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a time of 43.3.
In the relay events, the 4x100m team of Sophomore Michael Pietropola, Sophomore Kieron Smethers, Sophomore Nick Marple, and Brooks was 3rd at 45.94 and the 4x400m team of Junior Joey Doganiero, Smethers, Hill, and Jackson was 2nd at 3:29.39.
In the jumping events, Marple tied for 9th in the high jump (5' 4"), Senior Thomas Straniere tied for 4th in the pole vault (11'), and Junior Dylan Prough won the long jump (20' 8.5").
In the throwing events, Marple was the highest finishing Hornet at 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 156' 9".
