The Wellsboro Varsity softball team lost to Troy last night 5-1 in the second round of District 4 playoffs to end their 2012 season.
Last night's contest was the third time Troy and Wellsboro have faced each other this season. Wellsboro won the first game, but Troy had their number for the last two to advance to the next round of District play.
Freshman Jordan Butters recorded a double and scored Wellsboro's only run in the frist inning. Freshmen Baylea Lehman and Paige Carr had the other hits for the Hornets.
Sophomore Maggie Smith started on the mound, and recorded her seventh loss of the year. She allowed five hits while striking out one and walking two. Sophomore Brooke Kohler came on in relief to strike out four while allowing five hits and one walk.
With the loss the Hornets finish the 2012 season with a 12-8 (7-3 NTL West) record.
