Junior >Dan Saniga highlights a solid victory for the Hornets' pitching a complete game against Athens to claim his first win of the season. Saniga gave up 6 hits, struck out 6, and only walked 1 batter while facing 29 batters in his seven innings.
"Dan had great control tonight," said head coach Philip Prough. "It was his first time on the mound this year and the first he's played since breaking his nose earlier in the year.
"We came out with a game plan that I would call the pitches for this game, allowing Dan to simply concentrate on pitch location and Ben Shaw to focus on the other aspects of catching. Both players executed. Dan showed his potential, especially in the last inning when Athens had the bases loaded. He continued pitching and did not revert to just throwing the ball."
Offensively, the Hornets were led by Pat Parsons 3-4 outing with 2 runs scored. Shaw, Thomas Johnston, Brian Doty and Dylan Prough added 1 hit each.
With the win the Hornets improve their 2012 season record to 6-2 (4-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Friday, April 27, as they travel to Towanda.
