The Wellsboro Middle School boys basketball team fell to CV on a last second shot, 44-43. The Hornets went up 14-7 early and then had a rough second quarter (turnovers, foul trouble, bad shot selection) and were down 20-17 at the half.
"We fought back and went up by 1 with 10 seconds left on a 15 foot jump shot by Dawson Prough," said head coach Dan Marple. "Nick Tremper did a nice job for us defensively against a much bigger inside player," continued Marple.
Tony Cooper and Joe Allen finished well and had 6 and 12 points respectively, while Prough led all Hornets with 25 points.
In the B-Team game, Wellsboro won a shortened game 14-10 due to CV's lack of players. Bryon Callahan had 4 points in the game to lead Wellsboro. The Hornets will be back in action on Friday, March 23, as they travel to Galeton.
