The Wellsboro Middle School girls basketball team handed North Penn their first loss of the season as they beat them 24-19. Alexa Singer scored 12 points, added 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Jada Jackson grabbed 8 rebounds, while Jenny Young and Darci Warriner pulled in 5 each.
"The girls played so hard tonight and every one of our players contributed to the win," said head coach Darrell Morris. "There were so many great efforts, like when Stephanie Leister hit a huge baseline shot with about 3 minutes to go to put us ahead for good. Our man to man defense was outstanding and the whole team just seemed to gel tonight."
With the win, the Hornets improve their season record to 7-1, and have won six consecutive games. The team will be back in action on Tuesday night, March 6, as they host Liberty.
