The Wellsboro Lady Hornets defeated Troy in the consolation game of the Montoursville Tournament 49-22 to end a 3-game losing streak.
A day after droping a close game to Williamsport in the opening round, the Lady Hornets rebounded to take home third place in the tournament with a win over the Lady Trojans. Senior Mackenzie Marple, who was named to the All-Tournament team, had 17 points to lead the team. Senior Kiana Acorn had 9 points while Senior Hannah Zuchowski and Freshman Jada Jackson each had 8 points.
"All the girls were so happy to get the win today," said head coach Mary Grab. "Everyone put in a good effort, played hard defense and tried to focus more on their shooting. Our shooting percentage was much better tonight and we took better care of the ball."
With the win, the Lady Hornets improve to 3-7 on the year. The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 3, 2013 as they travel to North Penn.
