The Lady Hornets Varsity squad defeated Galeton by a score of 47-38. A 15-4 run in the second quarter helped sustain them through a rather dismal third quarter.
"That seems to be a pattern for us, unfortunately," said coach Mary Grab. "We just seem to become complaisant and allow our opponent to gain ground."
Leading the Hornets in scoring was Makenzie Marple with 12 points, Mikayla Palmer-Bacon with 9 and Raina Rogers with 8 points. Rounding out scoring with 4 points each were Taylor Acorn, Hannah Zuchowski, Kiana Acorn, and Andrea Dean. Zuchowski led rebounding with 10 and Palmer-Bacon led in steals (10) and assists (7).
"It was a good overall team effort, including our players off the bench," continued Coach Grab. "We just need to work on keeping our intensity consistent during the entire game."
With the win, the Hornets ended their six game losing streak and improve their 2011-12 season record to 8-9 (6-2 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Thursday, February 9 as they host Cowanesque Valley.
