The Lady Hornets Varsity squad improved its' record to 10-10 with a 55-27 win over Liberty. Raina Rogers posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, Mackenzie Marple followed with 10 points, and Andrea Dean pulled down 10 rebounds. Despite a dismal first quarter performance, which found the Lady Hornets behind by a score of 11-5, the Hornets pulled it together and surged ahead in the second quarter and continued to build a lead.
"That first quarter stands out in my mind," said coach Mary Grab. "We just can't start games like that and expect to recover...witness our loss to Williamson. I was so pleased that the girls were able to step it up and bring it together over the next three quarters."
In JV action, Wellsboro defeated Liberty by a score of 21-18. Jordan Butters led all scorers with 12 points, followed by Ashley Johns with 6. The team will be back in action on Thursday, February 16, as they host North Penn.
