The Wellsboro Lady Hornets suffered their second largest loss of the season Thursday night against Athens.
The Lady Hornets were only able to muster 24 points, and could not keep Athens' Christin Dunkling under control. Dunkling had a game-high 20 points for the Wildcats.
Senior Guard Mackenize Marple had 9 points to lead the Lady Hornets, Senior Hannah Zuchowski finished with 6 points, Senior Kimberly Acorn had 3 points and Freshman Alexa Singer, Freshman Sarah Ingerick and Senior Kiana Acorn had two points each in the game.
In the JV game, the Lady Hornets defeated Athens 32-23. Sarah Ingerick was the leading scorer with 16 points, and Alexa Singer added 8.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 2-5 on the season. The team will be back in action on Saturday, December 22, as they host Coudersport at 1:00 p.m.
