The Hornets boys basketball team defeated North Penn in their final regular season game of the 2011-12 season. The Hornets had four players with double figures as they secured the 67-52 NTL West win. Freshman Michael Pietropola played his best basketball of the season, as he led all Hornets in scoring with 20 points.
In addition to Pietropola's 20 points, Wellsboro also got 15 points each out of Jordan Jackson, Matt Reese, and Dylan Prough. With the win, the Hornets improved their season record to 19-3 (11-1 NTL West) under head coach Todd Outman, and will have a playoff for the NTL West title against Mansfield this Friday, February 17 at Mansfield University.
In JV action, the Hornets lost to North Penn 52-42 in their final game of the season. The loss drops Wellsboro's record to 13-9 under coach Chase Kriner.
