Hornet track opens season at Igloo Invite

The Wellsboro boys and girls track team opened their 2011-12 season Saturday in Altoona at the Igloo Invite. In the 4x800 meter relay, the boys team finished in 5th place with a time of 8:54.94 while the girls team finished 10th with a time of 11:13.14.

In the 110 meter hurdles, Blair Carson finished 32nd with a time of 19.96 and Tristen Wood finished in 41st with a time of 21.73.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Mackenzie Marple finished 7th with a time of 17.47.

In the 100 meter dash, Mitch Snyder finished 30th with a time of 12.36. In the girls race, Mikayla Palmer-Bacon finished in 7th place with a time of 13.45 and Lauren Bleggi finished 16th with a time of 13.96.

In the 1600 meter run, Jordan Jackson finished in 6th place with a time of 4:41.14, Bob Owlett finished in 12th with a time of 4:52.96, and Bobby Hill finished 13th with a time of 4:54.43. In the girls race, Charlotte Worthington finished 15th with a time of 6:03.03, Marina Garrison finished 17th with a time of 6:05.49, and Randi Grim finished 19th with a time of 6:08.72.

In the 400 meter dash, Nick Marple finished 27th with a time of 59.57 and Matt Reese finished 28th with a time of 59.72. In the girls race, Taylor Acorn finished 2nd with a time of 1:01.68 and Becky Chambers finished 11 with a time of 1:06.84.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the boys team placed 14th with a time of 48.22 while the girls team finished 2nd with a time of 52.94.

In the 300 meter hurdles, Blair Carson finished 29th with a time of 49.48 while Raina Rogers finished 4th with a time of 49.29 and Mackenzie Marple finished 8th with a time of 51.80.

In the 800 meter run, Jordan Jackson finished 4th with a time of 2:04.07 and Bobby Hill finished 15th with a time of 2:11.69. In the girls run, Marina Garrison finished 23rd with a time of 2:50.13 and Becky Chambers finished 32nd with a time of 2:59.97.

In the 200 meter dash, Dan Brooks finished 28th with a time of 25.21 and Dan Saniga finished 29th with a time of 25.38. In the girls race, Taylor Acorn finished 1st with a time of 26.77.

In the 3200 meter run, Bob Owlett finished 2nd with a time of 10:14.89 and Gerrett Webster finished 15th with a time of 10:59.14. In the girls race, Charlotte Worthington finished 8th with a time of 13:00.34 and Randi Grim finished 15th with a time of 13:27.49.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the boys finished 14th with a time of 3:51.56 and the girls finished 2nd with a time of 4:19.48.

In the high jump, Dylan Prough finished 22nd with a jump of 5' 2". In the girls event, Raina Rogers finished 6th with a jump of 4' 8".

In the pole vault, Thomas Straniere finished 17th with a vault of 10'. In the girls event, Sarah Kramer finished 9th with a valut of 8'.

In the long jump, Dylan Prough finished 14th with a jump of 18' 4.5" and Michael Pietropola finished 33rd with a jump of 16' 3".

In the triple jump, Sam Mitchell finished 21st with a jump of 36' 6.5" and Dan Saniga finished 25th with a jump of 34' 9.5". In the girls event, Kimberly Acorn finished 18th with a jump of 30' 0.5" and Kaelyn Keane finished 37th with a jump of 25' 5.5".

In the shot put, Chase Barnes finished 20th with a throw of 37' 0.5" and Connor Coolidge finished 36th with a throw of 33' 1.5". In the girls event, Katie Straniere finished 37th with a throw of 22' 8".

In the discus, Blake Gamble finished 32nd with a throw of 74' 6". In the girls event, Jessie Catherman finished 33rd with a throw of 64' 1" and Katie Straniere finished 39th with a throw of 49' 4".

In the javelin, Ben Shaw finished 17th with a throw of 125' 6" and Dan Saniga finished 24th with a throw of 112' 10". In the girls event, Jessie Catherman finished 10th with a throw of 96' 8".

The teams will be back in action on Tuesday, April 3 to start the NTL season as they travel to Wyalusing.
