The Wellsboro Varsity softball team suffered their first loss of the season as they fell to Liberty 3-1 last night in Wellsboro. Sophomore Maggie Smith struck out eight, but allowed three runs on three walks and seven hits as she picked up her first loss of the season.
Sophomore Brooke Kohler and Freshman Jordan Butters recorded singles, while Peyton Wilson had a double an scored Wellsboro's only run of the game. Paige Carr had a hit for Wellsboro and Hannah Zuchowski had a hit and an RBI.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 1-1 on the season (1-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Friday, April 13, as they travel to Galeton.
