The Wellsboro Varsity softball team broke a 2 game losing streak as they defeated Athens last night, 15-3. The Wellsboro offense took out their aggressions from the past two games on the Wildcats as every starting member of the Hornets had at least one hit in the game.
Sophomore Maggie Smith and Freshman Jordan Butters lead the Hornets at the plate, as they each went 3-5. Smith also added a double and 4 RBIs. Sophomore Brooke Kohler went 3-4 and Freshman Peyton Wilson went 2-4 on the night.
Smith started on the mound for the Hornets and picked up her fourth win of the season. Kohler relieved Smith and picked up her second save of the season.
With the win the Hornets improve their 2012 season record to 6-3 (4-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Monday, April 30, as they host Sayre.
