The Wellsboro Varsity baseball team rallied from a 5-0 deficit with seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings and they came away with an 8-7 victory in eight innings over Wyalusing.
Wyalusing tied the game with a run in the seventh inning, before the Hornets got the walk-off hit in the bottom of the eighth. Connor Coolidge started things off with a walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and Billy Sell hit into a fielder's choice to second that left Coolidge out at third and put Sell at first.
Matt Reese singled to put runners on first and second and Pat Parsons hit into a fielder's choice that left Reese out at second base.
With runners on first and third and two outs, Wyalusing intentionally walked Ben Shaw to load the bases and Brian Doty came through with the walk-off single.
Shaw had three hits and three RBI and Reese had two hits, while Sell had a hit and three runs scored, Thomas Johnston had a triple and Doty had the walk-off hit.
Brandon Grinell worked 6 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, four earned. Brandon Owlett pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.
With the win, the Hornets improve their 2012 season record to 5-2 (4-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Thursday, April 26 as they travel to Athens.
