The Wellsboro Varsity girls cross country team split with Athens and Towanda tonight in their first home meet of the season. The Hornets fell to Towanda 29-30 and beat Athens 18-42.
Towanda also defeated Athens 27-30.
Freshman Jordyn Coffee was the top finisher for the Hornets in 4th place in a time of 23:04, Freshman Jada Jackson finished in 5th in 23:32, Freshman Hannah Hood finished in 6th in 23:33, and Junior Charlotte Worthington finished in 7th in 23:41.
Rounding out the rest of Wellsboro finishers were Sophomore Annie Sweeney in 9th (24:17), Senior Randi Grim in 12th (24:37), Freshman Camryn Keane in 14th (25:06), Freshman Samantha Bailey in 17th (25:16), Junior Baylee Mann in 18th (25:38), Sophomore Denae Ingerick in 20th (26:12), and Sophomore Caitlynn Butler in 23rd (27:32).
The team will be back in action on Thursday, September 20 as they host Northern Potter.
