The Wellsboro girls track team dominated Troy en route to a 119-30 win over the visiting Trojans. The Hornets finished first in all but three events of the evening. Troy swept the 800m run, took first in the 100m hurdles, and 4x800m relay (Wellsboro did not run).
The Hornets swept the 100m dash as Senior Taylor Acorn took the top spot with a time of 12.8. Freshman Lauren Bleggi and Senior Mikalya Palmer-Bacon took the second (13.2) and third spots (13.3). Bleggi backed up her 100m performance by taking the top spot in the 200m run with a time of 27.3. Palmer-Bacon finished behind Bleggi and Senior Erika Wilson finished third.
In the 400m run, Acorn took the top spot again for the Hornets, with Freshman Caitlynn Butler finishing third and Alexandria Mansfield finishing fourth.
In the 1600m and 3200m runs, the Hornets swept the top three spots as Sophomore Charlotte Worthington finished first in both events. Following Worthington in the 1600m run were Junior Marina Garrison and Freshman Annie Sweeney. In the 3200m run, Sweeney finished second with a time of 12:43 and Junior Randi Grim finished in third.
Other top finishers for the Hornets included Raina Rogers in the 300m hurdles (48.9) and high jump (4' 10"), Sarah Kramer in the pole vault (8' 6"), Mackenzie Marple in the triple jump (32' 5"), Sherri Hovis in the shot put (29' 7.25") and discus (80' 1"), and Jessie Catherman in the javelin (98' 4").
With the win, the Hornets improve to 5-0 (4-0 NTL Large). The team will be back in action on Thursday, May 3, as they host Athens and Sayre.
