The Wellsboro girls track team put on another spectacular show as they captured the NTL Large School title today at Athens. The girls scored 156 points to claim the top spot.
Wyalusing (149 points) finished second, Athens (82 points) finished third, Towanda (67 points) finished fourth, and North Penn (61 points) and Troy (50 points) rounded out the field.
Senior Taylor Acorn captured first place finishes in both the 100m and 200m races. In the 100m she ran a time of 13.01 and ran a time of 26.43 in the 200m. Senior Mikayla Palmer-Bacon finished third in the 100m (13.36) and fifth in the 200m (27.91). In the 400m run, Senior Raina Rogers took home the top spot with a time of 58.77.
Rogers backed up her first place finish in the 400m by finishing first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.49. Acorn took home the top spot in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.41. Junior Mackenzie Marple finished in third place with a time of 49.55.
In the long jump, Acorn took home first place with a distance of 16' 4.5". In the triple jump, Junior Kimberly Acorn took home second with a jump of 33', and Marple finished right behind her in third with a jump of 32' 11".
In the throwing events, Senior Sherri Hovis won the shot put (31' 0.5"), Sophomore Katie Straniere took home fourth in the discus (80' 7"), Junior Jessie Catherman placed fifth in the discus (78' 9"), and Marple finished third in the javelin (109' 3").
