The Wellsboro Varsity girls soccer team fell to Sayre last night on the road, 1-0.
The Hornets defense played an excellent first half, but 1 second half goal was all that Sayre needed to claim the NTL victory. Jess Hickey scored the goal for Sayre in the 27th minute of the half.
Sophomore Meghan Bodine had 8 saves for the Hornets.
"We played a solid game throughout both halves," said head coach Carolyn Mitchell. "The torrential down pour during the first half created field conditions we hadn't been exposed to, but the team handled it well. I believe we were an evenly matched team."
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 2-4-1 (2-4-1 NTL). The team will be back in action on Monday, September 24 as they host Towanda.
