The Wellsboro Varsity girls soccer team fell to Athens last night, 3-0.
Athens socred their first goal in the 26th minute as Kirsten Colegrove advanced the ball down the middle by herself and shot the ball from the middle of the box. Colegrove would add a second goal in the second half along with Kate Davis to claim the victory.
"Our defense did a wonderful job against the strong Athens attack, unfortunately we were unable to develop a high number of shots on goal," said head coach Carolyn Mitchell. "We have a couple of things we need to fine tune before our upcoming game against Mansfield."
Sophomore Meghan Bodine recorded 11 saves in the loss.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 2-2 (2-2 NTL). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 15 as they host Mansfield.
