The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team shut out Galeton 1-0 on the road.
Freshman Dawson Prough, coming off a "hat trick" performance against Towanda, scored the game's lone goal in the 54th minute off an assist from Senior Spencer Kreisler. Sophomore goalie Jake Mitchell earned his second shut out of the year as he saved six Galeton shot attempts.
"Going to galeton is always a tough test. We kicked and chased in the first half but in the second half we started to pass the ball around and we created good chances," said head coach John Shaffer. "We were unlucky to not score a few more goals but we did enough for a win. Another clean sheet for our defense sets a good tone going into the last few games of the season."
With the win, the Hornets improve thier record to 5-7-1 (4-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 4 as they travel to Williamson.
