The Wellsboro Varsity boys socer team defeated Towanda tonight 3-1 on the road.
The Hornets found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime as Matt Murphy scored for the Black Knights in the 17th minute. Senior Luke Rudy tied up the game in the 23rd minute of the second half as he scored off an assist from Sophomore Gillan Alafoginis.
The Hornets would strike twice more in the second half as Freshman Dawson Prough and Junior Dan Brooks each snuck goals past Towanda's keeper.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 7-9-1 (5-2 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Saturday, October 13 as they travel to Northern Potter for their final regular season game.
