The Wellsboro boys soccer team fell to Sayre last night at home, 1-0.

Sayre scored the only goal of the contest in the 29th minute off a direct kick by Seth Murrelle after a questionable call.

"It is a shame that such a good battle was decided in a questionable call so early in the game," said head coach John Shaffer. "My goalie was called for holding the ball outside of the 18 when going to punt the ball, even though his feet were in the box.

"I have never seen that call in my soccer life," concluded Shaffer.

Sophomore Jake Mitchell had 4 saves in the game for the Hornets.

With the loss, the Hornets fall to 6-8-1 overall (5-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, October 9 as they host Liberty.
