The Wellsboro Varsity boys soccer team fell to Northen Potter last night in overtime, 2-1.
The Hornets came out flat in the first half and gave up a penalty kick two minutes into the game. Freshman Dawson Prough scored the lone goal for the Hornets off an assist from Junior Dan Brooks and Sophomore Jake Mitchell recorded 11 saves.
"Unfortunately we were unable to finish some other chances and in the first overtime we gave up a corner kick goal," said head coach John Shaffer. "One positive is that we are still tied for top of the NTL West, and we get one more game with every team left."
In JV action, the Hornets topped Northern Potter 4-1.
With the loss, the Hornets are now 3-6 overall (3-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 22 as they host Athens.
