Wellsboro started off their season to a 0-1 defeat in double overtime to Sayre during the Towanda kick off tournament. Freshman Jessica Hickey scored the lone goal for Sayre in the 96:28 minute of the game. After a heartbreaking 2OT loss to Sayre, Wellsboro had to turn around a play Mansfield for the Consolation match. Wellsboro came out with a 2-1 victory over Mansfield.
Victoria Pearson found the back of the net with a quick direct kick on the outside of Mansfield's 18-yard line 5:42 into the game. Pearson put the ball into the back of the net again in the second half with an assist coming from teammate Taylor Acorn (52:21). Mansfield got on the scoreboard with a corner kick coming from Janie Ghods and then being headed in by a Wellsboro player.
