The Hornets used a big second quarter to run to secure a win over the Panthers in the first round of the boys' Wellsboro Christmas Tournament Wednesday.
After leading 17-8 after the first quarter the Hornets went on a 24-3 run in the second to secure the win.
Chase Barnes led the Hornets with 13 points while Matt Reese added 12, Billy Sell scored 11 and Jordan Jackson scored 10. Sam Mitchell chipped in with eight, Joey Doganiero and Nick Marple scored four points apiece, Dylan Prough scored three, Mike Pietropola, Brandon Pierce and Ben Shaw each had two while Kieron Smethers had one point.
Wellsboro will face Bellefonte in the final at 7:30 p.m. today while Northeast takes on Sayre in the 4:00 p.m. game.
