At Bloomsburg University yesterday, the Wellsboro boys cross country team continues to show improvement and peaked at the right time to win the PIAA District IV Cross Country Championship. With cold and rainy conditions the boys got off to their normal fast start but still trailed NTL champion Canton at the two mile mark.
At that point Joey Doganiero took over. Joey has consistently finished as Wellsboro’s fifth runner but had the race of his life finishing third for the team. This move upwards in the standings help to propel the team to the championship. Jordan Jackson led the team with a 5th place finish followed by Bob Owlett in 10th. Doganiero was 26th, Garrett Webster 27th and Bobby Hill 29th.
In addition to the team honors, Bob Owlett and Jordan Jackson both qualified for the state cross country meet.
