Wellsboro JV Starts Out Strong

By: Ed Weaver | NTL Sports | September 9, 2009

The Wellsboro JV team traveled to Cowanesque on Tuesday and was able to hold the Cowanesque Valley Indians scoreless in a 15-0 win. Sophomore Quarterback Chase Barnes broke off a 40 yard run and Freshman James Brown connected on the extra point in the first quarter to give the Hornets their first score.

The Hornets found the end zone again on a rushing touchdown in the second quarter by running back Brenton Acorn. The extra point failed.  The Hornet defense came up big in the third quarter by tackling the Cowanesque running back in their own end zone for a safety.

The Wellsboro JV is off to a 1-0 start and travels to Troy next Monday night. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. For directions to Alparon Park, use the Interactive Map.
